Kids want us to grow pumpkins-What kinds of seeds do we grow for jack o lanterns?
We have grown the regular jack o lantern mixes that we got at walmart and usually end up with smaller pumpkins. We are looking to grow taller rounder pumpkins to carve. Any ideas?
You don’t understand. I ‘m looking for a seed variety of larger sized pumpkins. I know the basics of growing pumpkins.
Those cheap mixes of pumpkins aren’t the greatest so I would stay away from them.For nice carvers I recommend buying seed varieties like Connecticut Fields or Howdens….all which you can find at most Walmart’s or your garden centers.
If you want to go a step further check online stores for info or catalogs….Harris Seeds is great source.They will send you free catalog and if you order pumpkin seeds they will send you a free instructional newsletter.Great carvers from Harris include Magic Lantern, Sorcerer or Howden Biggie for taller pumpkins.
